Kakinada, Feb 17: Former Minister Kurasala Kannababu strongly condemned the undemocratic practices of the TDP-led coalition government, particularly in the Tuni Municipal Vice-Chairman by-election. He accused the coalition leaders of using police support to intimidate and manipulate the election, including threatening YSRCP councilors and destroying CCTV cameras around the Chairman's residence.
Kannababu questioned the state's constitutional integrity, criticizing TDP leaders for disregarding democratic principles and raising doubts about the rule of law in Andhra Pradesh. He warned that if such behavior continues, YSRCP will intervene to stop these unlawful acts.
He called for district officials, including the District Collector and SP, to oversee the elections to ensure fairness and transparency, and demanded action against police officers enabling the misdeeds. Kannababu also appealed to the Election Commission to ensure the safety of councilors during the election process.
He urged peaceful elections and questioned whether senior TDP leaders like Yanamala Ramakrishnudu endorse these actions.
