*YS Jagan expresses grief over death of MGNREGS women workers*

Tadepalli, May 16: Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep grief over the tragic road accident in Kakinada Rural mandal in which five MGNREGS workers lost their lives. He said the incident, in which a speeding tipper vehicle rammed into the workers while they were crossing the road near the worksite, was extremely painful and heartbreaking.
YS Jagan conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and urged authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to those injured in the accident. He said reports suggesting that the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol were highly disturbing and blamed the government’s failure to control unchecked liquor sales for the increasing number of such tragedies.
Stating that poor women labourers losing their lives while attending employment guarantee works reflects the government’s negligence, Y.S. Jagan pointed out that lack of basic safety measures near worksites is leading to fatal accidents. He stressed the need for proper warning boards and safety arrangements, especially near highways, bypass roads and high-traffic areas.
He also demanded immediate financial assistance for the victims’ families and urged the government to extend full support to those affected by the tragedy.
