Tadepalli, June 12: Terming the Vennupotuku Rendellu protest programme a grand success, YSRCP has said that the massive response to the call given by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reflects the anger of the people and the failure of the coalition government on all fronts.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, Party State Coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said people are vexed with the governance of Chandrababu Naidu, and all sections of society feel cheated as the poll promises have not been fulfilled on one hand, while the welfare programmes introduced by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy have been scrapped, causing hardships to the people.
Congratulating people for participating in large numbers despite restrictions imposed by the police, he said they should question the ruling dispensation during its house-to-house contact programme about what happened to the promises made during the elections and why they have not been implemented.
Terming the coalition's Tirupati meeting a showbiz event far removed from reality, he said the unfulfilled promises expose the lies and deception of the government. The number of beneficiaries has been drastically reduced in schemes such as Talliki Vandanam, pensions and Annadata Sukhibhava, while other schemes are either non-starters or have been heavily diluted. The government's claim of attracting investments worth Rs. 23 lakh crore is far from reality, as there is no visible evidence of such investments on the ground.
While YS Jagan Mohan Reddy raised Rs. 3.30 lakh crore in borrowings over five years, Chandrababu Naidu's government has reportedly borrowed over Rs. 3.50 lakh crore in just two years. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy implemented all welfare schemes through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). In contrast, Chandrababu Naidu has failed to implement the poll promises, and there is no clarity on how the borrowed funds have been utilised, he said.
The government's claims that 71 crore passenger trips have been made under the free bus travel scheme and that large numbers are benefiting from Anna Canteens appear exaggerated, he said. Chandrababu Naidu is moving towards the privatisation of the health and education sectors, which were strengthened and nurtured under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's administration.
The claim of providing 16,000 jobs through the DSC recruitment process has also come under a cloud, as the entire process has been mired in controversy and allegations of corruption. Despite serious allegations, neither the Chief Minister nor the Education Minister has responded, while officials have been offering incoherent explanations, he said.
The coalition government's governance has been irresponsible and inefficient, and its failure on all fronts has been reflected in the success of the Vennupotuku Rendellu protest programme, he added.
