Vijayawada, June 22: A delegation of YSRCP leaders visited the family of Pērupogu Kranthi Kumar and met his father, social activist Pērupogu Venkateswara Rao, expressing solidarity and support. Former Ministers Merugu Nagarjuna and Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao, former MLA Kaili Anil Kumar, Tiruvuru YSRCP In-charge Nallagatla Swamidas, and party leader Kommoori Kanaka Rao participated in the visit.
Speaking to the media, former Minister Merugu Nagarjuna said the entire state knows the circumstances that led to Kranthi Kumar’s death. He stated that Kranthi Kumar, in his selfie video, clearly said he was ending his life due to the harassment inflicted by Krishna Lanka CI Nagaraju. Nagarjuna questioned why the government failed to take the incident suo motu despite the existence of such evidence and demanded registration of an SC/ST Atrocities case along with a CBI inquiry. He said the government acted only after Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy intervened in the Sai Krishna case and assured that YSRCP would stand firmly with the Pērupogu family until justice is delivered.
Former Minister Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao said Kranthi Kumar’s death reflected the failure of the government to protect vulnerable sections. He questioned why the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Home Minister Anita, and Minister Nara Lokesh had remained silent despite the victim’s video statement. He described the incident as a government failure and demanded immediate action against those responsible, compensation for the family, and a fair investigation.
Nallagatla Swamidas demanded the registration of a non-bailable case and provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the officer responsible. Former MLA Kaili Anil Kumar criticized the government for its lack of response and said Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSRCP would continue to support the family. The leaders collectively demanded a CBI probe, accountability for those responsible, and justice for Kranthi Kumar’s family.
