Tadepalli, June 9: YSRCP State General Secretary Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi criticised that Chilakaluripet MLA Prathipati Pulla Rao has been attempting to take over a commercial mall owned by an NRI family by exploiting debts incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. Addressing the media alongside Krishna Priya, wife of NRI Murali Mohan, she said the family has faced harassment for the past two years despite expressing willingness to repay the outstanding loan. She questioned how a Rs. 90 lakh loan had allegedly escalated to Rs. 7.5 crore within four years and claimed the objective was to seize the property.
Krishna Priya said her family invested their lifetime savings earned in the United States to build a modern mall in Chilakaluripet but suffered financial setbacks during COVID. She alleged that false propaganda, obstruction of business, intimidation, and damage to CCTV cameras forced the mall to shut down. Despite court orders restoring possession to the family, she said the directions were not implemented. She questioned how Rs. 90 lakh could become Rs. 7.5 crore and said even their offer to repay was rejected. Lakshmi Parvathi accused the coalition government of enabling land grabs and assured that YSRCP would provide legal support to the family until justice is secured.
