AMARAVATI : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has reaffirmed that Andhra Pradesh is the only State in the country to provide reservations for SC, ST, BC, Minorities and Women in nominated posts and the same will be followed in Corporation Chairperson posts as well.

Intervening during question hour, the Chief Minister brushed aside the allegations of nepotism in appointing Corporation Chairpersons, Advisors, CEOs and other nominated posts and said that there are about 160 more posts which would be filled up after the ensuing panchayat elections.

The composition after all the vacancies are filled, the Chief Minister said, will be in tune with the 50 % reservations with SCs, STs, BCs, Minorities and Women getting their due share.

‘We are the only government to pass a legislation to provide reservations to the weaker sections and after all the posts are filled the composition will reflect our policy and letter and spirit of the law we have passed,’ he said.

Ándhra Pradesh is the only state which is giving 50 % reservation in nominated posts and in contract works in the country and the cabinet itself has 60 % of ministers representing the weaker sections. Of the five Deputy Chief Ministers, four are from the weaker sections. Important portfolios of Home, Revenue, Education and the like are held by these sections.

We have also provided reservation in the posts of Chairpersons of Market Yards and in Krishna district itself of the 19 posts 10 are given to weaker sections and we have also seen to it that half of the post s are reserved for women. We have followed the same procedure in District Cooperative Banks and Marketing Societies, he said.

He read out the list of persons nominated as chairpersons which included Vasireddy Padma, Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi, RK Roja, Jakkampudi Raja among others.

The question, asked by Anagani Satya Prasad and others, sought details of number of persons nominated and appointed as Chairmen, Advisors, CEOOs and other Administrative posts and if reservations are followed are not.

The Chief Minister said that Advisor post is of temporary nature and they are taken for their excellence in their respective fields. There need not be any affiliations or motives attached as they are experts in their chosen fields, he said.
