Tadepalli, Feb 21,: YSRCP State General Secretary and MLC Lella Appi Reddy challenged the government to come forward for a discussion in the Legislative Council on the Indapur Dairy issue if it has nothing to conceal. Speaking at the party’s central office, he questioned why the government is afraid of a debate if allegations that TTD tender norms were altered to benefit Indapur Dairy and divert funds to Heritage are untrue. He said that if no corruption was committed for Heritage’s benefit, the government should have no hesitation in agreeing to a discussion even immediately, and criticized it for first indicating consent before the Chairman and later retreating in the House.
Appi Reddy stated that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has repeatedly dragged the sacred Tirumala temple into politics for selfish economic and political gains. He said no formal complaint had been made about adulterated ghee in Tirumala laddus, yet Chandrababu raised the issue at an NDA meeting to derive political mileage. Despite the CBI-SIT charge sheet clarifying that no animal fat was found in the ghee, he alleged that Chandrababu shifted his stand and began claiming that even bathroom-cleaning chemicals were mixed, in an attempt to prolong controversy and divert attention from governance failures.
He stated that Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had already presented evidence of irregularities in ghee supply contracts during Chandrababu’s tenure, including changing tender conditions to favor Indapur Dairy, lifting disqualification on certain dairies, and awarding contracts at Rs. 658 per kg late last year. He said the links between Indapur and Heritage have been exposed with documentary evidence, and that after these revelations Heritage reportedly modified its website description of Indapur from a “manufacturing unit” to a “co-manufacturing unit.” According to him, the conspiracy to hike ghee prices and divert TTD funds under Indapur’s name now stands exposed, yet the coalition has offered no substantive rebuttal.
Appi Reddy criticized the repeated rejection of adjournment motions seeking discussion on the Heritage–Indapur relationship, alleging that alternative motions were engineered through defected members to avoid a direct debate. He asked why the TTD Chairman is responding to allegations concerning Heritage if there is no connection. He further accused the government of diversion politics by reviving unrelated claims about the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s decisions on Tirumala’s jurisdiction, which he said were disproven with documentary and video evidence showing Chandrababu’s own contradictory statements.
He also objected to the constitution of a one-man committee after the SIT probe conducted under Supreme Court directions, calling it an attempt to portray YSRCP leaders as guilty despite the SIT findings. He said the party would take what it calls Chandrababu’s misuse of Tirumala and TTD funds directly to the people.
Responding to allegations that YSRCP members disrespected religious sentiments during protests, Appi Reddy said the party members hold deep reverence for Lord Venkateswara and that claims about holding deity photographs while wearing shoes are false. He countered that Chandrababu himself has a history of participating in religious events without removing footwear and accused the coalition of spreading misinformation to distract from the central issue.
Concluding, Appi Reddy reiterated that if the government truly has integrity and nothing to hide, it must agree to an open debate in the Council on Indapur Dairy and its alleged links with Heritage. He said YSRCP will continue to expose what it describes as political misuse of a sacred institution for private gain.
