*Chandrababu cabinet meets for benami land deals, not public welfare*

Visakhapatnam, July 11: Former Minister and YSRCP West Godavari District Regional Coordinator Gudivada Amarnath strongly criticised Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, stating that his Cabinet meetings are not being held for public welfare but only to hand over valuable government lands to benamis. Addressing the media at the YSRCP office in Visakhapatnam on July 11, 2026, he said Visakhapatnam is witnessing one of the biggest land scams in India’s history, with nearly Rs. 25,000 crore to Rs. 30,000 crore worth of land deals taking place under the coalition government.

Amarnath said that while Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy developed Visakhapatnam as the future growth city of Andhra Pradesh, the coalition government has turned its eyes on the city’s lands. In Cabinet meetings, he said, most agenda items are not about welfare promises, women’s support, unemployment allowance, new pensions or public issues, but about land allotments. In the latest Cabinet meeting, more than 25 out of 35 items were related to land allotments, proving the government’s priorities.

He said valuable lands are being handed over at throwaway prices of 99 paise or Rs. 1 to favoured companies and benamis, while the government falsely claims that lakhs of jobs will be created. He challenged the government to release a white paper on how many jobs were actually created through SIPB approvals. Referring to Madhurawada, he said 9.39 acres of 22A government land worth Rs. 1,500 crore to Rs. 2,000 crore was transferred to APTDC by showing only Rs. 190 crore as book value, paving the way for future handover to private interests in the name of hotels or convention centres.

Amarnath questioned whether Visakhapatnam lands are Lokesh’s ancestral property and said Chandrababu’s “wealth creation” means wealth for benamis, not for the State. He demanded an immediate inquiry into the Bheemili GITAM land scam and the Endada land scam worth Rs. 600 crore to Rs. 700 crore. He said the Social Media Task Force is only a drama to suppress those questioning corruption and land loot, while TDP’s own social media has targeted women, children and ordinary citizens. He made it clear that YSRCP will not remain silent while Andhra Pradesh’s assets are looted and will stand with every citizen who questions the government.
