*Former Minister Appalaraju’s wife questions different standards of Justice*

Srikakulam, August 11: Sridevi, wife of former minister Seediri Appalaraju, demanded reopening of the Cheppala Bhogayya road accident case and an independent investigation, saying there should be one law and equal justice for everyone.

Speaking to media here on Tuesday, she said Bhogayya died in a road accident near Korasavada in Pathapatnam constituency on December 21, 2024. His family has alleged that a TDP MLA’s son was driving the vehicle, but the case was registered against another driver. She demanded an inquiry into who was actually driving and how the case was handled.

Sridevi said the Rs 5 lakh assistance, pension and other support promised to Bhogayya’s family have not been provided. She also sought an inquiry into allegations of threatening calls to the family.

She alleged that a different standard was being applied to her family. An ordinary road accident was being portrayed as a murder for political reasons, her 18-year-old son was being targeted and her husband was arrested and sent to jail, she said.

“Fight my husband politically, but do not drag children into politics,” she said.

Recalling Appalaraju’s services as a doctor and minister, Sridevi demanded equal application of law irrespective of political affiliation and said they would stand by Bhogayya’s family until justice was delivered.
