Tirupati, Oct 6: YSRCP has strongly condemned TTD Chairman BR Naidu for sacrilege, disregard of temple traditions, and failure in protecting Tirumala’s sanctity.
Speaking to the media, former TTD Chairman and YSRCP state spokesperson Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said Naidu committed a grave offence by visiting Additional EO Venkaiah Chowdary’s house during his father’s peddakarma (13th-day mourning rituals). On that occasion, Naidu draped Srivari’s holy shawl, gave laddu prasadam, tied parivattam (headgear of holy silk robes), and arranged veda aseervachanam by temple priests. “This is a desecration of Srivari traditions and a direct insult to Tirumala’s sanctity,” he said.
Bhumana reminded that Parivattam is a sacred ritual performed only after Brahmotsavams at Ranganayakula Mandapam or Bangaru Vakili under official supervision. “Doing parivattam on a death-ritual day is unheard of in Hindu dharma. It has hurt crores of devotees worldwide. This shows the ignorance of a man who does not even know the difference between a bride and a widow,” he remarked. He noted that TV5 telecast visuals of Naidu and board members performing these objectionable rituals, proving temple traditions were openly compromised.
Turning to real estate issues, Bhumana revealed that Coimbatore-based G Square, facing ED probe and accused by former Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai, wrote to the CM seeking permission to build a Srivari temple in its 900-acre venture. “Shockingly, this is included in the TTD board agenda through oral instructions. Under Chandrababu’s blessings, Naidu is legitimizing private ventures using Srivari’s name. Does this not suggest his vested interests?” he asked.
On Brahmotsavams, Bhumana said Naidu failed miserably. The CM’s congratulatory note to officials was “laughable,” as success is due to TTD staff, not the Chairman. He cited glaring lapses: 500 vehicles of Naidu’s supporters obstructing Garuda Seva, EO’s outrage, Naidu vanishing the next day, traffic chaos at Alipiri and Garuda Varadhi, and the installation of objectionable Salva Sharabha statues in temple gardens.
“By every action, BR Naidu is desecrating Tirumala. He has no respect for Hindu dharma, no knowledge of temple traditions, and no commitment to Lord Venkateswara. The coalition government has committed a blunder by making him TTD Chairman,” Bhumana thundered.
