AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh government will launch 'YSR Nethanna Nestam' scheme from December 21. The scheme will provide Rs 24,000 per annum to every weaver's family who owns a handloom so as to modernize their equipment and in-turn compete with the power looms sector.
Nellore District Collector MV Seshagiri Babu has instructed officials concerned to complete the arrangements required to ensure that the 'YSR Nethanna Nestam' scheme to be available to all the eligible handloom weavers in the district from December 21.
While speaking at a review meeting at collector's camp office, Seshagiri Babu said that YSR Congress Party led by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has introduced the scheme to help the weavers who are in trouble.
Handloom ADO Prasada Rao, handloom service centre assistant general manager Janardhan and others attended this meeting.
The collector said that the state government have identified 5,943 weavers' families in the district. He said that they will make the eligible beneficiaries list available in secretaries concerned.
Seshagiri Babu said that names of 967 weaver families were missing in the list. With that, a total of 6,852 eligible lists have been prepared, said the collector.
The collector said that the beneficiaries will be selected as per the rules and regulations and the state government is taking steps to directly deposit cash in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
