Sharmila completes 2000 km of her Padayatra

Hyderabad, May 16,
2013: Smt. Y.S. Sharmila, who has been undertaking Maro Praja Prasthanam
Padayatra on behalf of the incarcerated YSR Congress chief Sri Y. S. Jagan
Mohan Reddy, has reached yet another milestone in her walkathon by completing
the distance of 2000 km today.

Though the Padayatra is
not aimed at achieving records, she attained the distinction of being the
country’s first woman to have completed walking the 2000 km distance when she
had stepped into the village Ravikampdu in West Godavari District accompanied
by a battery of party leaders including its honourary president Smt. Y.S.
Vijayamma.

During the course of
her walkathon which she had launched on Oct 18 last at Idupulapaya in YSR
District with a mission of exposing the anti-people policies of the Congress
Government and the politics of conspiracy by the Congress and TDP against the
YSRCP chief, Smt. Sharmila has effectively brought the memories of the late
legendary leader Dr. YSR back to people as she listened to women folk, farmers,
labourers, students, children and others and addressed them throughout.

The Padayatra of Smt. Sharmila
has attained a unique identity of sorts and attracted the attention of the
nation as the walkathon has been interlocked with innumerable number of
Rachchabanda interactions and scheduled and impromptu public meetings during
its entire course.

Smt. Sharmila began her
mission at a time when the state was witnessing the pre-2004 situation that
prompted Dr. YSR to launch his historic Praja Prasthanam Padayatra to assess
the people’s problems left unattended by the then Chandrababu Naidu regime.

Not surprisingly,
people, who volunteered in thousands to grace her public meetings and
Rachchabanda interactions, poured out their innumerable grievances caused by
the watering down of the YSR-introduced welfare schemes by the Kiran Kumar
Reddy-led congress Government.

Smt. Sharmila on her
part grossly succeeded in boosting up the morale and confidence of the
crestfallen people by assuring them that all their problems would be solved
when the YSRCP assumed power under the leadership of Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy who
would bring back the YSR’s Welfare Raj.
