YS Jagan’s visit sparks massive support amid govt. repression

Tirupati, July 9:  Former TTD Chairman and YSRCP Chittoor district President Bhumana Karunakara Reddy, condemned repressive tactics of the Naidu’s government during YS Jagan’s visit to Bangarupalem supporting distressed mango farmers. He asserted that the overwhelming turnout of farmers and party workers demonstrated the people’s unwavering support for YS Jagan, despite what he described as a “repressive, Hitler-like regime” enforced by the ruling coalition.
“YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the most popular leader in the country, stood with the farmers to instil confidence and pressure the government to act in their favour. Yet, the administration deployed 1,600 police personnel, issued notices to our leaders, and placed them under house arrest, creating an atmosphere of fear,” Karunakara Reddy stated.
He highlighted the dire situation of mango farmers, noting that 50% of mango orchards remain unharvested, with 1.7 lakh tonnes of produce still languishing in fields, as confirmed by Food Processing Principal Secretary Chiranjivi Choudhary. Factories have procured only 1.5 lakh tonnes, leaving farmers in despair.
The government failed to honour agreements to procure mangoes at Rs. 6 per kilogram, with Minister Atchannaidu admitting to offering as low as Rs. 1 or nothing at all. “Farmers, enraged by this betrayal, dumped their produce on roadsides in protest. The people’s anger against this administration is palpable, and their resolve mirrors the spirit of India’s freedom struggle,” he said.
The visit, marred by roadblocks, police lathicharge, and threats from an SP-level officer to open rowdy sheets against YSRCP workers, saw farmers and supporters brave intimidation to join YS Jagan. “Despite the government’s conspiracies, people defied hills, bushes, and obstacles to stand with Jagan.,” Karunakara Reddy declared. He criticized the coalition government, led by Chandrababu Naidu, for “digging its own political grave” through dictatorial measures, warning that such actions would only strengthen public support for YS Jagan. “The massive turnout today has sealed the coalition’s defeat. You cannot suppress the people’s will,” he asserted.
Karunakara Reddy also refuted Minister Atchannaidu’s claim that YS Jagan tour was a “staged event,” calling it an insult to the farmers’ plight. “Come to Chittoor and see the reality, Minister. The farmers are suffering, and Jagan is their voice.” He thanked the police for inadvertently highlighting the YSRCP’s resilience, as supporters broke through “fortress-like barriers” to join the rally. “Jagan did not conduct a roadshow; the people spontaneously rallied behind him. I saw with my own eyes the police beating our workers, yet they stood firm,” he recounted.
