SP’s political remarks on YS Jagan’s visit condemned

Tirupati, July 8: Former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy expressed strong disapproval of the Chittoor district police's actions ahead of YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s scheduled visit to Bangarupalyam mango market.
Speaking to the media at the Tirupati camp office, Bhumana accused the Chittoor police, especially the District SP, of working under the direction of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to obstruct YS Jagan’s visit. He said it was unacceptable for the SP to make political comments and threaten farmers and YSRCP workers with rowdy-sheets simply for trying to meet the opposition leader.
He stated that restrictions were being imposed even though permissions were formally granted.
He alleged that farmers bringing mango loads in lorries were being stopped, petrol bunk owners were warned not to fill fuel for vehicles heading to Jagan’s program, and auto drivers were threatened with legal action if they ferried farmers.
Bhumana said only ten farmers were being allowed to interact with Jagan at the market, which defeats the purpose of the visit. He questioned whether democracy still existed when farmers are treated like criminals and denied their basic rights.
He also pointed out that TDP MLAs were openly threatening to confront Jagan, but the police were ignoring these statements. Meanwhile, YSRCP supporters were being arrested in advance. He said branding YSRCP supporters as rowdies and stopping farmers from meeting Jagan was unconstitutional and politically motivated. He warned that using police to suppress opposition voices and people’s movements would not be tolerated.
