YSRCP slams Naidu on signature remarks

Press Release

Hyderabad, February 4, 2013: Coming down heavily on N Chandrababu Naidu for calling the one crore signature campaign as fake, YSR Congress has said the TDP leader has lost sanity in wake of the eroding base of his party.

“The signature campaign was carried out in full public glare for 20 days across the state and the support for YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was reflected in the Kadapa Parliament and the subsequent by-elections as well. Chandrababu Naidu repeating what was published in a section of media that has questionable credentials has no validity,” party official spokesperson Gattu Ramachandra Rao told reporters here on Monday.

Chandrababu Naidu telling people that we are asking him to move a no confidence motion only to have a bargain with ruling Congress speaks of his low levels of vision in public life as it was the TDP leader who has been striking deal after deal with Congress, he said.

The signature campaign is the voice of people that has supported YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and vented the anger against the CBI style of functioning. For a person who won Kadapa Lok Sabha seat by a majority of over 5.45 lakh votes, the public following would be much more than what has come in the signature campaign, he said.

TDP base, on the other hand, has been fast eroding and it can be vouched from the fact that the voting percentage has been falling down ever since Chandrababu Naidu took over the reins from NTR, he said adding that the Party did not win a single by-election during the past three years.

“We had to react only as Naidu has taken up the issue and not because it was carried by a section of media that is known for distorting facts and campaigning against YSR family,” he said.

Naidu stating the YSRCP has been demanding us to move a no-confidence motion only to strike a deal is far from truth and on the contrary it is the TDP leader who has a deal with Congress on various issues. While the Centre shields him from CBI and other cases, he assures that the Kiran Kumar government will not fall, this deal has been finalized long back and the sequence of events point towards the understanding.

“Naidu calling us of having a deal with Congress is absurd and he should know the rights and responsibilities of a Leader of Opposition. It is TDP that has the numbers to move a no confidence motion and no other party in the Assembly has the minimum required figure of 30 members, “he said.

Naidu’s deal with Congress is in the open as he has been very vocal in his padayatra that the State Government has no right to continue for a single day as it is pursuing anti-people’s policies on one hand and refuses to move a no confidence motion on the other.

On the previous occasion, he has moved the no trust move only after confirming the merger of PRP with Congress and making sure that the motion will not be carried, Rao said.
