YSRCP asks Centre to roll back gas prices

Press Release

Hyderabad, Jan 2, 2014: YSR Congress has slammed the Central and State Governments for the steep hike in non-subsidised cooking gas and demanded an immediate roll-back as the hike as it affects majority of the households with the cost of LPG cylinder going up by over Rs 215.

“Our Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will write to the Union Petroleum minister to immediately roll back the hike as it burdens the common man and the we will toe the agitation path if our demand is conceded,” party SC Cell Convener Nalla Surya Prakash told reporters here on Thursday.

In the election year, Government resorting to the hike of subsidized and non-subsidised cooking gas (LPG) cylinders shows that it is not willing to use the available cushions to bear the global fluctuations but wants to silently passes it on to the consumers. The government is functioning more in a corporate style with an eye on profits rather than looking after the welfare of the people.

YSR government has absorbed the hike which was imposed by the Centre and the Kiran Kumar Reddy government and the Centre have no concern over the plight of people, he said.

The Party demands immediate roll-back of the hike failing which we take up agitation programme, he said. The linking of Aadhar card has ended up in a big mess as poor people are not in a position to neither acquire the card nor open a bank account. The reimbursement scheme has ended up in utter confusion and the scheme has been hopeless, he said.

On election promises of Chandrababu Naidu, he said, the TDP leader, who was against subsidies, is promising of waiver of DWACRA (Development of Women And Children in Rural Areas) loans. In reality during his term as chief minister he has collected 14 % interest from the women groups.

It was YSR who has brought it down to pavala vaddi and our leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken a decision to provide 0 % interest loans to women groups. Kiran Kumar Reddy tried to ape YSRCP but has failed totally, he said.
