Withdraw GO on thrift: YSRCP

Hyderabad, YSR Congress has demanded the State Government to withdraw the GO issued downsizing the thrift amount to weavers and said TDP has been neglecting weavers on various counts.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday Party official spokesperson Bathula Brahmananda Reddy said: “The State has issued GO no 12 decreasing the thrift amount to weavers from Rs 6,000 to Rs 4,000. The move adversely affects the weavers who are already in distress.

There have been suicides by weavers in Ananthapur district and such draconian GOs would badly affect the weaving community and drive them to suicides as they are bearing the brunt of Chandrababu Naidu’s failure to keep up his poll promise of waiving loans.

During elections, Naidu has promised many sops in the manifesto like Rs 1000 crores fund for weavers welfare, waiver of all loans and housing. Not a single promise was fulfilled and on top of it the thrift amount is reduced which shows that weavers are under utter neglect in the TDP rule.

Not a single loan was waiver, not a single house was built to the weavers and we demand that the State withdraw the GO immediately failing which we will stand by them and will not go back to agitate, he said.

Brushing aside the remarks of TDP leaders that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Delhi for personal reasons, he said, when the Chief Minister is silent and has never broached the state subject, as a responsible leader of opposition, he has to go and meet people and give representations in the interest of the State.
