Start EAMCET counseling: YSRC: Aug 2, 2012

Hyderabad, August 2: YSRCP has demanded the State Government not to shirk its responsibility and issue notification of EAMCET counselling immediately as a full academic year of the students is at stake.

“There is no point in going for an appeal(review petition) against the Supreme Court verdict on the fees structure, instead it should keep the welfare of students in mind and conduct the counselling immediately,” party spokesperson, Gattu Ramachandra Rao told reporters here on Thursday.

The State has been trying to delay the process which will affect one academic year for the students which is unwarranted, he said and demanded that the counselling should be taken up immediately.

The delay has already cost a loss of Rs 482 crores and kicked up controversy and confusion in the fee structure of convenor and management quota students. A proposal to hike the fee by Rs 20,000 from the existing Rs 31,000 need not merit a serious thought at this juncture as the academic year is at stake, he said.
There was enough delay tactics on part of the State Government to water down YSR schemes, more so the fees reimbursement scheme and 550-odd colleges which do not have the infrastructure in the required standard were being blackmailed by the State, he said.

YSR has always given priority to education, health and employment and the three fields are being neglected by the State Government, he said.

After the dharnas taken up by the party at Dharmavaram and Sircilla highlighting the weavers’ plight, the State has come down and announced a package of Rs 75 crores to the weavers. “We treat this as a victory of the weavers, “he said and demanded that the State should implement the Rs 312-crore loan waiver scheme announced by YSR besides purchasing all clothes for PSUs and other government organisations from APCO.

“We have submitted a charter of demands on the weavers’ issue which the State has to implement immediately,” he said.

On the controversy over the YSR photo, he said, “Congress has raked up the controversy only to defame YSR and his family members. The debate stems out of confusion and frustration within the Party, which is unable to decide whether or not to own up YSR, thus a multitude of views are being floated, “he said.
