*Amaravati land pooling irregularities and favouritism exposed*

Tadepalli, May 1: YSRCP Tadikonda constituency in-charge Balavajrababu (Diamond Babu) stated large-scale irregularities, lack of transparency, and favouritism in the ongoing Amaravati capital development, stating that the entire process is being driven to benefit select individuals at the cost of farmers. Addressing the media, he said that during the earlier phase, even plot demarcation stones were unofficially removed. Builders were intimidated into halting work, and now, in the second phase of land pooling across seven villages, the government is again deviating from norms despite GO 252 (December 2025) suggesting the continuation of the earlier policy. He pointed out that nearly 200 acres of layout approvals were granted to associates of TDP leaders, particularly those linked to Peddakurapadu MLA Bhashyam Praveen, while ordinary farmers were being given only 1,000 square yards per acre, exposing a clear double standard. He questioned how layout approvals are being granted to those outside land acquisition while farmers within the pooling system are denied equitable benefits.
He further stated that farmers who gave lands in the first phase have still not received returnable plots or basic infrastructure like roads and drainage, yet the government has proceeded with a second phase without addressing their grievances. Calling the entire process a “land mafia” operating in the name of the capital, he demanded that the government issue an official notification for new layout approvals and ensure transparency. He criticised the massive expenditure of around Rs 2,500 crore on glass buildings in Amaravati, warning that the overall cost of such activities could escalate to Rs 50,000 crore, raising serious public concern. He said the government has been rattled by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s “MAVIGUN” corridor proposal and questioned why the alternative of building the capital on available government lands is being ignored. He demanded that the issues of first-phase farmers be resolved before proceeding further, called for the release of a comprehensive white paper on the capital project, and warned that YSRCP will intensify its fight if injustice to farmers continues.
