Govt avoiding debate: YSRCP

Hyderabad,
September 20: Reasserting the Party’s commitment to the people’s cause, YSRCP
MLA Golla Babu Rao has said that the bandh called by various opposition parties
in protest against the Central government‘s policies was successful.

“Our
Party has observed bandhs, rasta roko, dharna and deekshas at all the district
and constituency level headquarters against the hike in diesel prices, ration
of LPG cylinders and allowing FDI in retail sectors as the Centre’s decision
will affect all sections of society,” he told reporters here on Wednesday.

Our
Party MLAs held a dharna at the State Assembly demanding roll back of hiked
diesel prices and also against the abrupt adjournment of assembly without
taking up public issues.

“MLAs
of our Party expressed resentment over the conduct of the Assembly which goes
against the set parliamentary practices,” he said adding that the legislators
on dharna were arrested by police.

The
Centre has been very rude towards the common man and has been increasing the
prices irrationally and the decision to allow FDI into retail market will
further burden the common man, he said adding that the Party cadre across the
State had conveyed the message of resistance through dharnas and deekshas.

YS
Rajasekhar Reddy has given subsidies and did not allow the price hike to affect
the common man and has shown an example of good governance, he said.

“Ours
is a people’s party and we are with the people and take up their issues. It is
very ironic that the Centre which has restricted the supply of gas cylinder to
six has issued a notice to increase the number to nine in Congress ruled
States. This discrimination is beyond comprehension,” he said.

It is
also surprising to note that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has welcome the
decision of FDI in retail sector which shows the concern of Congress for common
man, he said.

TDP
President NC handrababu Naidu instead of moving no confidence motion against
Kiran Kumar Government has gone to Delhi to participate in the dharna at
Janthar Manthar which shows that he want to safeguard the State Government by
all means, he said.

On the
Party’s conduct on the floor of the House, he said, we are prepared to have a
debate and discussion on all public issues and we have given adjournment
notices on various issues.

We are
not happy with the House being adjourned without any discussion as we believe
in debate which is a main tool of parliamentary democracy, he said.

The
State Government is shying away from meaningful discussions and the House is
not being run in the way it is supposed. It is being abruptly adjourned
depriving the Opposition a proper plank to discuss public issues, he said
