Dalits are with YSRCP: Aug 11, 2012

Hyderabad, August 11: TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu, trying to project himself as the champion of dalits is farcical as he never took a firm stand on the categorization issue, while YSR always tried to bring a balance between the two communities, YSRCP has said.

“Chandrababu Naidu has always used the dalit issue to further his political cause but was never serious about the categorization issue. After the Supreme Court has ruled that only a resolution adopted by the Parliament, and not the State Assembly, can classify the categorization, did he wake up with the advocacy of being champion of dalit cause, which he is not,” Party SC Cell, State Convenor, Nalla Surya Prakash told reporters here on Saturday.

YSR on the other hand had given equal opportunity to both communities of SCs, be it in giving tickets to the State Assembly or the Lok Sabha whereas Chandrababu Naidu has never been responsive to the demands of Magida community, he said.

His stand clearly reflected in the 2004 and 2009 elections and dalits moved closer to YSR. Our Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy adopts the same pro-dalit policies, he said.

While Chandrababu Naidu has been indecisive and indifferent towards the categorization issue, YSR has taken up the dalit Christian issue to Delhi which speaks of his clarity and sincerity, he said adding that dalits are always with YSRCP.

YSR during his term has allotted 18 lakh houses to dalits and has given them a major share in all the welfare schemes he launched, he said.

This is a time when all political Parties should discuss as to how the resolution could be adopted in the Parliament. Instead Chandrababu Naidu is trying to eke out political mileage out of the issue. When he was steering the NDA government with TDP’s outside support, he conveniently skipped the issue though it was raging then, he said.
