*Coalition govt ignoring fishermen welfare*,

*Stop Juvvaladinne harbour privatization*

Nellore, April 23: YSRCP has criticized the coalition government for  lack of commitment towards fishermen and demanded that the proposed privatisation of Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour be withdrawn.

Former minister and district party president Kakani Govardhan Reddy said the government is making repeated mistakes and alleged that the issue of missing boats is also linked to these developments.

Speaking to the media at the party office, he said fishermen have expressed strong opposition to privatization and had raised concerns during the visit of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He alleged that instead of addressing their concerns, the government is creating confusion and spreading misinformation.

He stated that in a recent meeting, some fishermen admitted their mistake in the boat issue and fines were imposed by community elders. However, he alleged that leaders linked to the ruling party who encouraged such actions are being protected and no action has been taken against them. He demanded that those responsible for the missing boats be identified and punished.
Kakani Govardhan Reddy said YSRCP had supported fishermen through welfare measures, including financial assistance during fishing bans and increased diesel subsidies. He said the party is ready for a public discussion on fishermen welfare.

He questioned whether the government lacks the same sincerity shown by fishermen in addressing the issue and warned that continued neglect would lead to strong protests. He demanded immediate action against those responsible for the missing boats and urged the government to reconsider its decision on privatization.
