YSRCP committed to workers’ welfare

Hyderabad, May 1, 2013: YSR Congress Party
honourary president Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma has reiterated that the party is
committed to the welfare of the workers and will take all possible steps to
look after their welfare after coming to power.
Addressing party workers and the members of the
party’s trade union wing at the party central office here on Wednesday on the
eve of the May Day, Smt. Vijayamma said the very name of YSR Congress party has
an inherent reference to workers (Sramika) as the party’s main intention is to
serve workers, youth and farmers earnestly.
The party name itself reveals our commitment to the
welfare of the workers, she said.
Dwelling at length on the importance of the May
Day, Smt. Vijayamma said Dr.YSR gave utmost importance to the welfare of
workers. “Workers were very happy during his regime as YSR gave priority to
both welfare and development in equal measure,” she said, adding that workers
are now in distress as Government itself has been forcing closure of the
industries by imposing longer power cuts.
More than four lakh cottage and small industries
have been closed due to lack of power and 20 lakh workers have become jobless,
she said and added: “The Kiran Kumar regime is no different from that of
Chandrababu who made lakhs of workers jobless with his high-tech policies and
neglect of cottage industries and agriculture.”
Earlier, she had unfurled the national and YSRCP
Trade Union Congress flags and greeted the workers. Party trade union wing
convener Janak Prasad also addressed the gathering.
