*Kakani demands mandal-wise disclosure of land reverification data*

Nellore, Sept 12: YSRCP Nellore district president and former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy demanded that the TDP-led coalition government disclose complete mandal-wise and district-wise data on the ongoing land reverification process.

Speaking at the YSRCP district office here, he said land registrations have been frozen for the past 27 months in the name of reverification, causing severe hardship to poor farmers.

He demanded details of the number of applications received, rejected and approved on appeal, besides recommendations received from public representatives. He said the process lacks transparency and has increased the role of middlemen, forcing farmers to approach the ACB in some cases. He alleged that lakhs of SC, ST, BC and minority farmers were being affected by the prolonged exercise.

Kakani said the land reforms introduced by the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government were aimed at giving full ownership rights to poor farmers. Under the policy, original assignees or their legal heirs possessing assigned land for 20 years with valid records were eligible for ownership rights. The system required 100 percent verification at VRO and Tahsildar levels and inspection of 10 percent of lands at the RDO level. He said the previous government also removed eligible lands from the 22-A list and issued permanent titles.

He said the YSRCP government had provided ownership rights over 27.41 lakh acres to nearly 15.21 lakh poor farmers. He accused Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of delaying the process for 27 months and later continuing the same reforms while claiming credit. Kakani demanded immediate implementation of the reforms, restoration of eligible farmers’ rights and publication of complete reverification data. He warned that continued delays and lack of transparency would invite widespread anger from farmers across the state.
