YSRCP activists lay siege to Vidyut Soudha

Hyderabad, March 6,
2013: Hundreds of YSR Congress party activists laid a siege to the Vidyut
Soudha here on Wednesday protesting against longer power cuts and the
Government’s failure to tackle the power crisis.

The activists, led by party
leaders B. Janardhan Reddy, Adam Vijaya Kumar, Raj Thakur and Vijaya Reddy,
gathered in front of Vidyut Soudha and tried to barge into the complex raising
slogans against the Government for hiking power charges and imposing longer
power cuts.

Police tried to stop
them by pushing them backward resulting in injuries to some of the leaders and
activists. Party leader Vangapandu Usha fainted in the melee as police forcibly
pushed them away.

The activists raised
slogans asking Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy to take immediate steps to
eliminate power cuts in the state in view of the examination time for students.

“Because of the power
cuts, people are suffering and the worst sufferers were students as it is
examination time for them. The Government should take immediate steps to lift
power cuts,” the leaders said.
