Hyderabad, YSR Congress would hold statewide dharnas on June 25 to protest against the TDP Government’s failure to protect the state’s rights is Krishna Water sharing and its apathy towards farmers as it seems to be more inclined towards solving its political and personal issues.
“The State has miserably failed in putting forth its point of view in getting its rightful share before the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal and convince the Centre on the issue and has been neglecting the agriculture sector totally as the leaders are busy in covering up the scandal that broke out in the open.
To protest against the State’s apathy towards farmers and failing to convince the concerned authorities in getting the rightful share of Krishna waters we will organize dharnas before Collector Offices in all the 13 districts on June 25,” Party PAC member Dr MV Mysoora Reddy told reporters here on Saturday.
Though Telangana government has announced the Palamuru-RangaReddy lift irrigation project without taking the necessary permission from the Krishna River Board, the Andhra Pradesh Government did not react to it in a fitting measure and it could not force a powerful argument to get its rightful share of Krishna waters and the conduct of officials and delegation that represented the State is very poor, he said adding that “there is every reason to believe that the argument at the Krishna Tribunal was watered down in lieu of the political crisis.
Andhra Pradesh being the tail-end State has now become the lower riparian state after Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana and the interests are not safeguarded in a proper manner, he said.
This apart the state, which is busy in the cash for vote imbroglio has put the governance at a stand-still mode with no plans being chalked out for khariff season about the loans, supply of seeds, fertilizers and other inputs which has put farmers in hardships.
“We will be highlighting both the issues during the dharna programme at Collectorates,” he said.
