Issue Certificates immediately for Local Poll candidates: YSRCP

Tadepalli, Oct 12: YSRCP MLC and State General Secretary Lella Appi Reddy has once again urged the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission to ensure immediate issuance of caste/community and No-Dues/NOC certificates to prospective candidates in the upcoming local body elections, warning that administrative or technical delays must not deprive any eligible person of the opportunity to contest.

In a fresh letter to the State Election Commissioner, Appi Reddy said the party had already submitted representations on October 1 and October 5 highlighting the difficulties faced by prospective candidates in obtaining the mandatory certificates. Despite these representations, applicants continue to face delays and the issues raised earlier remain unresolved at the field level.

With the election schedule expected shortly, he said the matter requires urgent intervention as these certificates are necessary for completing nominations wherever prescribed. Continued delays could prevent otherwise eligible candidates from filing nominations and participating in the elections.

Appi Reddy requested the SEC to issue immediate directions to all District Collectors, District Election Authorities and other competent officials to ensure that caste/community and No-Dues/NOC certificates are issued without further delay through Village and Ward Secretariats. All pending applications should be cleared on priority, while fresh applications must be processed promptly and without discrimination.

He further urged the Commission to put alternative arrangements in place wherever technical problems disrupt services, ensuring uninterrupted issuance of certificates. District authorities should closely monitor the process so that no eligible applicant loses the right to contest because of administrative delay.

Appi Reddy also sought details of the action taken on the party’s representations and requested immediate SEC intervention to ensure smooth conduct of the elections. Copies of the October 1 and October 5 representations were enclosed with the latest letter and forwarded to the Election Commission of India as well.
