Red Book governance rules AP: Tumati Madhava Rao

Vijayawada, Oct 13: Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Thumati Madhava Rao said the coalition government was undermining constitutional institutions by denying the protocol, facilities and respect attached to the office of Deputy Chairman.

After meeting the Governor in Vijayawada, Madhava Rao told the media that even after his election, the prescribed chamber, staff, personal secretary, security and protocol facilities had not been provided. He said the office was also being denied the protocol and courtesies due at TTD temples.

Questioning the government’s approach, he asked whether Andhra Pradesh was being governed under the Constitution framed by Dr B.R. Ambedkar or under Chandrababu Naidu’s “Red Book Constitution.”

Madhava Rao said he placed before the Governor the continuing denial of protocol and the manner in which the dignity of the Deputy Chairman’s constitutional office was being affected. He said the Governor responded positively to the representation.

He also demanded that coalition leaders take responsibility and resign over the false propaganda surrounding the Tirumala laddu prasadam issue.

Madhava Rao said he would wait for one week for the government to correct the violations. If the issues remained unresolved, he said he would meet the President of India and place the constitutional and protocol violations before her.
