YSR Congress dharna against fare hike successful

Hyderabad, Sept 27:Describing as successful, the Mahadharna across the State to protest against the hike in RTC bus charges and surcharge on power bills, YSRCP has said the anti-people policies of the Government will spell the doom for Congress Party in the general elections.

“Our Party cadre held dharnas at all the district Collector offices demanding the rollback of hiked diesel prices and reverse the decision of colleting surcharge on energy bills with retrospective effect,” Party MLC, Jupudi Prabhakar Rao told reporters here Wednesday.

Though misuse of official machinery and law enforcing agencies were blatant with the arrest of YSRCP leaders and cadre at many places and police trying to foil our dharna, the event was successful as our Party is with the people, he said.

There is a stalk contrast in the behaviour of the police when compared with the recent all-party bandh and to our Mahadharna, but YSRCP call for dharna has received good response, he said adding that the State has increased prices of various commodities and services for 27 times and is only waiting to pull on the remaining 18-month period of governance, he said.

We strongly condemn the police highhandedness, particularly in Nizamabad and reiterate our commitment for people’s cause and will march forward in pursuing the ideals of YSR as the State Government and TDP have failed to bring up burning issues for discussion in Assembly or the Council.

In a joint effort, they have seen off the five-day session without any discussion and it appears as if they have completed a formality, he said.

IMG: On the CBI inquiry into IMG land allotment, he said more skeletons will come out of the cupboard and TDP leaders trying to attach motives to a senior journalist who is party to the PIL, which has formed the basis of investigation, shows the double standards of the Party and its leader N Chandrababu Naidu.

“The same senior leaders were in all praise when a PIL was filed by a Congress MLA and three senior TDP leaders impleaded in the case against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. When it came to a PIL against IMG land allotments involving N Chandrababu Naidu, things started looking differently to them,” he said.

Prime land running into an extent of hundreds of acres was allotted by N Chandrababu Naidu to an obscure company with questionable credentials without following the procedure and this was questioned in the PIL and CBI will be probing into the issue under court’s directive.

When CBI carried out investigation and arrested YS Jagan Mohan Reddy based on a PIL which was filed by political opponents (one Congress and three TDP leaders) TDP was speaking from a high moral pedestal but when it came to its own frontcourt implicating N Chandrababu Naidu questions are being raised about the credentials of those who filed the PIL; this is foolhardy  and unacceptable, he said.

People are keenly observing this contradiction and their verdict in the 2014 general elections will be no different than the mandate given in the recent 18 by-elections, he said.
