*Are Rs. 5 Cr commissions collected from Bars or not?*

*Vangaveeti challenges Minister Kollu*

Tadepalli, May 11: YSRCP official spokesperson Vangaveeti Narendra launched a sharp attack on the TDP-led coalition government, alleging that Andhra Pradesh has become a “commission-driven administration” where public revenue is being diverted for private gains. Addressing the media at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, he challenged Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra to answer whether allegations made by former minister Perni Nani regarding monthly commissions of Rs.5 crore from bars were true or false.

Narendra stated that government liquor is not being sold in bars across the state and claimed that illegal liquor sales were taking place with the knowledge of those in power. He accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra of collecting commissions from bar managements while causing losses to the state exchequer. He said that instead of responding directly to these allegations, coalition leaders were diverting attention by repeatedly blaming the previous YSRCP government.

He further stated that in the 23 months of coalition rule, the government had borrowed nearly Rs.2.66 lakh crore but failed to show visible developmental outcomes. According to him, the government’s model was based on awarding works to benami contractors and extracting commissions in return. Narendra contrasted this with the YSRCP government, stating that former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had spent every rupee with accountability towards welfare, education, healthcare, ports, fishing harbours, village secretariats, RBKs, and Nadu-Nedu school infrastructure reforms.

Speaking on medical colleges, Narendra said that the coalition government is abandoning government medical colleges constructed during the YSRCP regime and attempting to hand them over to private entities through the PPP model. He warned that such a move would destroy the dreams of poor students aspiring to become doctors and make affordable healthcare inaccessible to the poor. He cited the example of Siddhartha educational institutions, alleging that despite decades of public land leases, poor students still struggled to secure seats without political recommendations.

Narendra also defended the “Mavigan” development concept proposed by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as a practical alternative to Amaravati, alleging that Chandrababu Naidu continued to promote Amaravati only for corruption and commission-based politics. He accused the coalition government of spending extravagantly on Amaravati projects while neglecting critical sectors like healthcare and irrigation. He questioned why funds were unavailable for completing medical colleges and the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project while thousands of crores were allegedly being spent on Amaravati buildings, landscaping, drainage works, and publicity campaigns.

The YSRCP leader further said that law and order had deteriorated significantly under the coalition government, claiming that crime rates had increased and women’s safety had weakened. He accused ministers and coalition MLAs of avoiding accountability and misleading the public through propaganda and false narratives. Narendra asserted that the people of Andhra Pradesh would eventually deliver a strong response to the government’s policies and governance failures.
