We Will Revive Traditional Occupations: YS Jagan

The YSR Congress Party President, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy spoke about the need to revive traditional occupations and support communities engaged in them. On day 281 of his mass contact initiative, Praja Sankalapa Yatra, the YSRCP chief criticized the Chandrababu government for not extending its support to such communities.
During the course of his padayatra, YS Jagan interacted with people engaged in traditional occupations across a wide spectrum, including weavers, craftsmen, fishermen, shepherds, mango farmers, Nayee Brahmins who poured out their woes to him. Similarly vendors of fruits and vegetables told him about the exploitation by contractors which compelled them to borrow money from private lenders at heavy rates of interest. This not only impacted their day-to-day business but made their very survival a challenge.
Fishermen complained that existing ponds had been auctioned and given away to the rich. They pleaded for separate ponds for fishing. After lending them a patient ear, the people’s leader said that the government should pay serious attention to reviving traditional occupations before it is too late.
