Vijayamma dharna at Pranahitha on May 21

Hyderabad
,
May 16, 2013: YSR Congress Party Honorary President YS VIjayamma would hold a rally
at Sirpur on May 21 demanding the State and Central Governments to declare
Pranahitha-Chevella as a national project and expedite works by allocating
sufficient funds.

“The decision to hold the
rally is deferred by a day and our party honorary president would take up the
dharna programme at Pranahitha for the delay in taking up the works on the
project which will provide water to seven districts in Telangana for
irrigation,” party spokesperson Janak Prasad told reporters here on Thursday.

Though foundation stone was
laid by YS Rajasekhar Reddy five years back, nothing concrete was done and work
on the ambitious lift irrigation project has been stalled leaving the arid
Telangana region totally dry.

“YS Vijayamma would cleanse
with milk the pylon erected during the inauguration of the project and sit on
dharna against the indifferent attitude of the Congress government. She would
later address a public meeting at Sirpur Paper Mills ground and highlight the
failure of state and central governments,” he said.

We demand that the project
should be accorded a national status and release allocated funds to expedite
the works as the 160 tmc of water will be a boon to the arid Telangana with
Adilabad, Karimnagar,
Warangal
, Nizamabad, Medak, Nalgonda and
Ranga Reddy districts benefitting from the project, which is considered to be
gem of the Jalayagnam projects.

The multi-crore project
renamed as BR Ambedkar Pranahitha-Chevella Sujala Saravnthi project would also
provide drinking water to the city and its peripheries.

Janak Prasad flayed Finance
Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy for his remarks against YSR and YS Jagan Mohan
Reddy.

We had earlier served legal
notice on him for his audacious comments.

“He has been repeating the
same thing again and again. The verbal attack on YSR family could be to gain
the attention of his party bosses, but we will not take it lying down,” he
said.

The Finance Minister who is a
party hopper has been speaking without any coherence on the 26 GOs case. The
government did not file a counter in the High Court when charges were leveled
against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and when the ministers were issued summons, he
started advocating on behalf of the ministers in way which a minister who is
office by oath should not be speaking,” he said.

“Ramnarayan Reddy is making
more noise as he lost his base on his home turf. YSRCP candidate Mekapati
Rajmohan Reddy polled maximum votes in assembly segment represented by the
finance minister in the Nellore Lok Sabha by–elections. This is an indicator of
what is in store,” he said.
