*Naidu govt fears YS Jagan’s public Support, imposes curbs: YSRCP*

Tadepalli, July 30: YSRCP leaders said the coalition government was imposing severe restrictions on Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tours because it could not tolerate his growing public support. Party spokespersons Putha Siva Shankar, Are Shyamala and Mancha Nagamalliswari said the government begins conspiring whenever Jagan steps out to meet people and is using police restrictions, advance notices and house arrests to prevent party leaders and workers from reaching him.

They said the government restricted YS Jagan’s convoy to eight vehicles and issued notices to YSRCP leaders ahead of his Srikakulam visit to meet former Minister Dr. Seediri Appalaraju in jail. Jagan was visiting to support Appalaraju, who was arrested in an illegal case after a normal road accident was projected as an attempted murder by the government and its supportive media.
The leaders questioned why the government was frightened by a former Chief Minister exercising his constitutional right to travel across the State. They recalled that when Chandrababu was Opposition Leader, the YS Jagan government allowed him to move freely despite his provocative speeches and the attacks carried out by TDP workers.

They said YS Jagan’s programmes during the past two years had remained peaceful and that YSRCP had always cooperated with the police. Despite this, the government was sending TDP workers to create provocations while failing to provide proper security to the Opposition Leader.

The leaders said illegal arrests and false cases were being used to hide administrative failures and target BC leaders who questioned the government. No barricades, notices or restrictions could separate YS Jagan from the people. They demanded strong police protection for his tours and urged the government to stop political harassment, allow the public to meet him freely and focus on implementing its election promises.
