Vijayamma seeks Presidential intervention

2013: YSR Congress Party honourary president Smt. Vijayamma-led delegation met
President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday and appealed to him to keep the state
united.
The delegation was also
accompanied by CPM senior leader and politburo member Sitaram Echuri.
In a memorandum
submitted to the President, Smt. Vijayamma brought to his notice the two-month
long agitation that has been going on fiercely in Seemandhra opposing the
decision of the CWC and the Union Cabinet to bifurcate AP.
Later, Smt. Vijayamma
told reporters that Pranab Mukherjee had read her memorandum fully and promised
to take all necessary steps as per the constitution of India on the issue.
“The President said the
Bill on Telangana would be sent to the state assembly with sufficient time
being given to it decide on the issue,” she said, adding that Pranab Mukherjee
also enquired about the health condition of party president Sri Y.S. Jagan
Mohan Reddy who took up Deeksha for the second time in the last one month for
keeping the state united.
“The President advised
Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy to take care of his health,” she said.
