Hyderabad, August 27: TRS MLA K Tarakarama Rao on Sunday expressed confidence that the Centre would announce a favourable decision on separate Telangana statehood before 2014 general elections.
Participating as the chief guest at the Telangana Public Prosecutors’ Conference held at a private hotel here, Tarakarama Rao said that the Centre does not wants to see Telangana issue in its 2014 elections agenda.
He hoped that both the Centre and Congress party would resolve the Telangana issue and announce a decision before 2014 general elections. He said that the people from the region were ready to prosecute the government if it fails to honour its promise on Telangana issue.
The TRS leader criticized the government for not giving enough representation to Telangana people in the appointment of prosecutors. Of 316 public prosecutors, he said that only 123 belonged to Telangana region. He assured the prosecutors from the region that he would raise their issues in the Assembly.
Telangana Political Joint Action committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram, who also spoke, found fault with the Chief Minister for going ahead with the Polavaram irrigation project with the present design.
He said the Chief Minister would invite the wrath of the court, which clearly asked the government to change the design. He appealed to the Telangana leaders to make a grand success the 'Telangana Million March' called on September 30. Former MP T Vinod and other TRS leaders participated in the programme.
