Dec 24: YSR Congress has said that the proceedings of the winter session of the
Andhra Pradesh Assembly were not held in the true democratic spirit but had
witnessed the treasury benches hoodwinking all norms and using the valuable
time to level baseless allegations and try to hijack the YSR schemes.
Speaking
to reporters here on Wednesday YSRCLP Deputy Floor Leader Jyothula Nehru said:
“we condemn the baseless allegations leveled by the treasury benches and the
manner in which the proceedings were conducted with the Leader of the House
playing truant.
The
allegations leveled by Chief Minister that YSR Congress is not interested in
the capital formation at the specified place and the Party is against the
welfare of Rayalaseema, more so in terms of irrigation, are totally baseless
and we condemn the attitude of Chandrababu Naidu.
Our Party
is not against the capital coming up at any place, we only wanted to highlight
some of the lacuna in the Capital Region Development Authority (CREDA) Bill.
This was projected by the treasury benches as if we are against the capital
coming up in the specified place which is totally false and our stand has been
that the capital should be centrally located and it should benefit all sections
of people.
On the
Rayalaseema issue, TDP government has been trying to hijack YSR schemes and put
its seal on a new format. The State suddenly bringing up the Pattiseema lift
irrigation scheme into the picture with a plan outlay of Rs 1,300 crore is only
a gimmick and is in no way useful for the Rayalaseema as the flood waters in
Godavari will be for a brief period. The aim of the project is to pump flood
water from Godavari to Krishna basin though Polavaram right bank.
Such
unproductive measure will strengthen the argument of the neighbouring states on
the Polavaram dispute and goes against the State interest; he said adding that
the amount should instead be used to build a balancing reservoir to benefit
Rayalaseema. The TDP Government should mount pressure on the Centre and
complete Polavaram project instead of going for such unproductive schemes, he
said.
