Support pouring in for Sharmila’s Padayatra
15 Oct 2012 5:47 AM

Hyderabad, Oct15, 2012:
Forum for the rights of the handicapped and the Rural Development Society for
the Deaf announced their solidarity to the Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra to
be undertaken by Sharmila, sister of YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan
Mohan Reddy from Oct 18.
Disclosing this to
newspersons here on Sunday, Kolli Nageswara Rao, president of the forum, said it
was YSR who introduced the scheme of pension to the handicapped first.
He called upon the 10
lakh handicapped persons in the state to attend the Yatra of Sharmila who has
decided to walk the long distance of 3000 Km to highlight the public issues and
the failures of the Government.
Taking a dig at TDP
president N.Chandrababu Naidu’s announcement he will grant a monthly pension of
Rs.1000 each to the handicapped, Nageswara Rao said it is ridiculous on part of
Naidu to make the statement.
“When Naidu failed to
offer even Rs.75 per month as pension, how can we believe his statement on Rs.1000
pension to the handicapped?” asked Nageswara Rao.
Nageswara Rao said
Chandrababu has not spared time to console the family members of a handicapped
person who was killed in the stampede during his padayatra and demanded a
compensation of Rs.10 lakh to the affected family.
