Botsa condemns police action on FMGs

Tadepalli, July 3: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Botsa Satyanarayana strongly criticized the police assault on students who pursued medical education, in Vijayawada.
In a statement released, he expressed deep concern over reports of physical attacks even on women students and called the incident extremely inhumane and unacceptable.
He stated that the state government was treating Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) in a cruel and unjust manner, as though they were criminals. Despite fulfilling all eligibility requirements, the government was refusing to grant them Permanent Registration (PR) numbers, which he said was a basic right. He questioned why the government was playing with the lives and futures of these students and causing anguish to parents who had spent lakhs on their children’s education abroad.
Botsa remarked that it was shameful that such well-educated youth were being forced onto the streets to protest. He held Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu responsible for this distressing situation and demanded immediate resolution of the FMG issue. He warned that if the government failed to act, the YSR Congress Party would stand with the students and join their protests.
