Visakhapatnam, Aug 14: YSRCP has affirmed that it will oppose any move to liquidate Etikoppaka and Tandava sugar factories as the coalition government is doing it with an eye on the land bank of the units.
Speaking to media here on Friday, former minister Gudivada Amarnath and others said, the liquidation is a move to grab the huge land of the two factories to benamis for real estate and the Committee evaluating the land worth is a mere eyewash.
The State should immediately withdraw the GO which enables the transfer of the sugar factory lands to APIIC and provide budget allocations for revival of the sugar factories.
The government plans to shut down the factories and dispose of the land to a favoured few in the name clearing dues and arrears though the coalition leaders during elections have promised to modernize the factories.
The move is to dismantle the cooperative sector and sugarcane farmers will lose their livelihood while the local elected representatives are willing to sell out the land for commissions.
Budi Mutyala Naidu, K Dharmansri, and Suryanaryana Raju were among those who addressed the media.
