Sharmila asks Naidu to come clear on KG Basin deal
06 Dec 2012 1:59 PM

Mahabubnagar, Dec 6,
2012: Describing the KG Basin scam as bigger than the 2G spectrum scam, Smt.
Sharmila asked TDP president Chandrababu Naidu to come clear on the details of
the deal through which the Basin was handed over to the Reliance Industries
during his regime.
Smt. Sharmila, who has
been undertaking Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on behalf of YSR Congress
chief Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, told a huge public meeting at Jadcherla in
Mahbubnagar district on Wednesday that the KG Basin was a God-given gift to the
people of Andhra Pradesh but it was gifted away to the Reliance by Naidu.
If the natural gas produced
in the KG Basin had been meant to be used only in the state, every household
would have been able to get cooking gas through pipelines. “Because of Naidu’s
gifting away of the KG Basin to the Reliance, the LPG Cylinder price was raised
from Rs.180 to Rs.305 in TDP rule resulting in a huge financial burden on
people,” she said.
Chandrababu also gave
away 850 acres of land to IMG Bharata at a cheap rate of Rs.50, 000 per acre despite
the land’s market rate was valued around Rs.2 Cr
per acre, Smt. Sharmila said, adding that Naidu’s role should be probed in both
KG Basin scandal and land allotment to IMG Bharata.
Despite the KG Basin
scam being bigger than the 2G spectrum scam, neither the state government nor
the Centre has come forward to probe the issue and this alone proved that the
Congress has been hand in glove with the TDP.
