Vijayawada: YSR Congress Party MLA Roja was detained at Gannavaram airport while she was on her away to attend ongoing National Parliamentarian’s Meet in Vijayawada this morning. Soon after arriving at the Gannavaram airport, she was detained by the police and confined to a room in the airport for about an hour as the Dalai Lama was to arrive there. She was later taken to a room where she was kept under police surveillance and not allowed to leave the room. To her surprise the police drove her towards Ongole by a woman police officer. She was later forcibly taken towards an undisclosed location. This is just to avoid her attending the NWP.
Shocked Roja informed this to the media through a video call. Showing an invitation with a valid pass, the YSRCP MLA questioned the morale right to conduct Women Parliamentarian’s Meet. She said Chandrababu Naidu and Speaker Kodela Sivaprasad Rao had no moral right to organize the Women's Parliament. She also said that National Women's Parliament has turned into a show of family of members of some leaders.
Meanwhile, YSRCP woman MLAs and party leaders have strongly criticised the police highhandedness and demanded that Roja be released forthwith and be allowed to take part in the meeting.
