Kurnool: Moved by the plight of the farmers, YSR Congress President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy assured them that his governance would bring the smile back taking appropriate steps as the present government has been adopting anti-farmer policies.
Speaking at an interactive session with farmers at Kodumur, near here, the Leader of Opposition said the plight of farmers would reflect badly on the economy of the state. During the past four years, farmers were totally neglected by Chandrababu Naidu government.
‘I have come here to know firsthand the problems of the farmers,’ he said and sought their suggestions as to how can agriculture be made into a viable proposition. ‘I want to see that all farmers would get MSP for all crops and need your views as to how to go about in achieving it.’
In course of the interactive session some farmers have talked to the Leader of Opposition and poured their woes out. Farmers are not getting MSP and are vexed with the profession. Our plight started long back and when Chandrababu Naidu took over it grew manifold.
Only during YSR term, the farmers said, we were happy and agriculture appeared to be an encouraging field and we were very happy. After his death we fell into distress as pulses and other crops were not getting MSP and were are left in the lurch, they said.
What we need is MSP and implementation of Swaminathan Committee Report, a farmer Ramachandra Reddy who hails from Bheemavaram village.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has assured that his government would take all steps to encourage agriculture and will be a farmer-friendly one.
