May 13, 2013: YSR Congress has resolved to chalk out a winning strategy in the
ensuing local bodies elections and also to express solidarity with Sharmila
whose padayatra will be crossing the 2,000 km mark on May 16.
“The party has decided to
chalk out a strategy to win most of ZPTC and MPTC seats in the coming
elections. All MPs, MLAs and other leaders of the party will be with Sharmila
when she crosses over the 2,000 km mark in West Godavari district on May16,”
party senior leader DA Somyajulu told media after the Political Affairs
Committee (PAC) meeting held here on Monday.
On completion of 2,000 km in
course of her padayatra, Sharmila will be joined by party leaders at
Ravikampadu of Chinthalapudi assembly constituency in
Godavari
the record of being the first woman to walk that distance.
Her padayatra has been getting
good response at every place and the party leaders will share the moment of
completing two-third distance of her Maro Prajaprasthanam, Somayajulu said.
The other major decision taken
by the PAC, Somayajulu said, was to convene an extensive executive meeting of
the party to chalk out the strategy for the coming local bodies’ elections.
We have survey reports
suggesting that our party will fare better. As these elections are scheduled to
be held on party basis we are taking it seriously.
“The wish of the people will
be shown in the ZPTC and MPTC elections as they will be held on party basis.
People have lost faith in Congress and TDP and it will be resolutely told once
again. We will meet on May 17 to draw a strategy for the elections,” he said.
The third decision taken by the
PAC is to hold a meeting at Pranahita under the leadership of YS Vijayamma. The
date will be decided later and tentatively it will either on May 20 or May 21.
Senior leaders will be taking part in the meeting he said adding that a
Rachabanda will also be held.
Discussion on Odarpu Yatra was
broached at the meeting, but majority felt that since it was started party
president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, it would be better if he resumes it.
The PAC was held with the
available leaders. Besides DA Somayajulu, Dr Mysoora Reddy, Mekapati Rajmohan
Reddy and other leaders participated in the meeting.
Konathala Ramakrishna could
not attend the meeting as he had to attend an important wedding and was out of
station.
