Panchayats need funds for development

Kodada
(Nalgonda Dt) June 26, 2013: Continuing her interactions with party leaders and
activists for the second consecutive day on Wednesday in Telangana, YSR
Congress Party honourary president Smt. Y. S. Vijayamma asserted that the
Panchayats and other local bodies should be equipped with funds and entrusted
with duties and responsibilities as well.

Addressing
the YSRCP regional meet at Kodada in Nalgonda district, Smt. Vijayamma said
villages and hamlets would suffer if there are no sufficient funds for
implementing developmental works.

“The
Panchayats should be asked to implement developmental works with clear
guidelines for the emancipation of the rural poor and strengthening the rural
economy but they need enough funds,” she said, adding that due to Government’s
apathy in conducting polls to the local bodies in time, the rural economy has
been put to suffering for the last three years.

Smt.
Vijayamma participated in the first regional meeting in Telangana by addressing
the Medak district unit of the party at Jogipet on Tuesday. Earlier, she
addressed the regional meetings of the party at Tirupati, Vijayawada and
Chilakaluripet.

She
asked the party leaders to keep a vigil on the illegalities of Congress and TDP
which may try to tamper with voters’ lists in the forthcoming Panchayat polls.
