MNREGP Funds Misused In Andhra Pradesh

Vzag: The AP government has left poor in the lurch by denying them employment opportunity under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme. As a result, poor families are forced to migrate other places for livelihoods.
Addressing the press in Visakhapatnam, party senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana alleged Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu diverted the funds meant for the employment programme. Virtually, the scheme was disbanded in the entire Andhra Pradesh. The plights of the poor intensified and they faced similar problems encountered before 2004 in Chandrababu rule in United Andhra Pradesh.
During farmer Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy's regime, Botsa said all migrants returned to their native places as the employment guarantee programme was enforced in true spirit. The employment act mandated every enrolled worker should be provided job within 15 days. If failed, the concerned authority should be punished.
The YSR Congress leader alleged that TDP leaders misused the scheme by replacing man power with machines.
