Srikakulam, Aug 31,2012 : Tension prevailed in Srikakulam town on Friday on the eve of the state bandh called by the YSRCP as police manhandled Ms.Padma Priya, district convener of the party and wife of MLA Krishna Das before taking her into custody.
Police also beat up Krishna Das when he took her out of the police jeep in the presence of police personnel who were present in large numbers.
In the scuffle, Krishna Das slightly injured his fingers but left the place with his wife. He later lodged a complaint to the District Collector about the unwanted police behavior.
Earlier, police have dragged Padma Priya on the road and forced her into a waiting police jeep.
Krishna Das alleged that police have acted in high handedness and took her into custody though she was peacefully organizing the bandh. “There is no reason for her arrest,” he told newspersons.
