Jagan To Lead Candlelight Rally in Visakhapatnam; MPs To Quit After Monsoon Session

Hyderabad, Jan 25: Castigating Chandrababu Naidu for his stand of pulling out from the demand of Special Category Status (SCS) on the irrational ground that all aspects are covered under the special package, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has asserted that SCS is our right and despite the restrictions imposed on tomorrow’s Candle Light Rally it will continue and the Leader of Opposition has said that he will lead the Rally at Visakhapatnam.

‘We have been in the forefront of leading the fight for SCS and we take strong objection to Chandrababu Naidu’s remarks that there is no need for SCS as all the issues are covered under the special package. The Chief Minister has been using repressive methods to foil the Candle Light Rally which is our democratic right but it will go on and I will lead the rally at Visakhapatnam,’ he told reporters here on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister should emulate the neighbouring Tamil Nadu where the Chief Minister had led an all-party delegation and forced the Centre to fall in line on the Jalli Katuu issue. Chandrababu Naidu should also follow suit and mount pressure on Modi Government on the SCS issue and give an ultimatum that he will pull out from the NDA coalition.

‘Instead of such positive approach Chandrababu Naidu has been toeing a negative line to save his skin in wake of the various scams he is involved in and has mortgaged SCS for his personal gains. We have organised 32 agitation programmes till now on SCS and will continue to do so. We will rise the issue in the Budget session of Parliament and after Monsoon session all our MPs will resign and seek a mandate on the SCS plank. If TDP is sincere on the issue all MPs should quit to make the country know about the importance of the SCS, he said.

Chandrababu Naidu has become an expert in event management and his many foreign jaunts have yielded nothing substantial but he has been very extravagant and has been moving in chartered flights which is swelling the burden on the ex-chequer. During elections Chandrababu Naidu and Venkaiah Naidu have said that we need to have 15 years of SCS but after the polls they have gone back. The investments and the projections TDP government has been giving in terms of investments is totally false and it is not Chandrababu Naidu’s face value that fetches investments but it is the incentives that come out of the SCS that will bring more investments and more jobs, he said.

The partnership summits and foreign jaunts are just a farce as nothing tangible has come out, he said. While SCS was assured on the floor of the Parliament is it not been honoured and Polavaram which was declared as a national project was taken over by the State for kickbacks and contracts are awarded on nomination basis.

Protesting for SCS is our democratic right and the Candle Light Rally will be held as scheduled our MPs will resign and seek re-election on SCS plank, he said.
