Farmers Up In Arms Against Land Pooling

Buddalapalem (Krishna dist), Dec 1: Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has slammed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his anti- farmer policy and land acquisition in inflated propositions for the Bandar Port without passing on any benefit to the tiller.

‘Not just forceful acquisition of land but the compensation terms too are very shoddy and do not benefit the reluctant farmer and his policies will elect him out of office should elections be held in the coming two years,’ he said here on Thursday.

We the do not oppose the development of the Port but we are against the inflated extent of land and the land pooling methodology. When the GO was issued in 2012 to acquire 5,200 acres Chandrababu Naidu had raised a hue and cry over the extent of land.

After coming to power he has revised it and said the extent of land would be increased to 30,000 and now he had fixed it to 1.05 lakh acres under land pooling. The returns are very poor and discouraging and farmers are not willing to part with their land.

Only 25 % of the value is being given in return and the Rs 3 lakh compensation would be staggered in ten years and when the value of the land increases manifold, the famer would be left with nothing tangible and are strongly opposing the land pooling.

‘We shall fight it out and God willing there would early polls and even if they are held on schedule Chandrababu Naidu will be rejected and I ensure that nothing more than 5,200 acres of land would be acquired for the Port,’ he said.

Farmers are suffering very much as TDP government has stopped land registration, not giving water no crop loans and proper compensation. These factors are going against the government which will bite dust in the ensuing elections, he said.

Villagers whose lands are under the scanner of land pooling have expressed dissent and apprehensions on the governance and have vehemently opposed
to part with their land.
