Endowment lands under pvt players

Govt leases lands at throwaway prices

YS Jagan flays TDP govt for act of sin

Vijayawada: YSR Congress Party chief and Leader of the Oppostion YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday alleged that the lands belong to endowment department are illegitimately being given to lease to private players.

Speaking during the Question Hour in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in Velagapudi, YS Jagan alleged that the lands, which cost more than Rs 70 crore per acre, are being given for lease at the throwaway prices.

Total of 14 acres belonging to Durga Temple in Vijaywada were given to Siddharth Medical college for a lease. In 2006, the then State government cancelled the lease agreement. Subsequently, the college management filed a case in the High Court. The court gave decision backing the State government in 2010. If this been the case, how fair it is for the TDP government to lease the lands for a mere Rs 1.4 lakh per acre? questioned YS Jagan.

"Using land that belongs to the God for personal benefit is an act of sin and the TDP government will pay for it," he said.

The Leader Of the Opposition also said that if there are specified rules with regard to the leasing government lands, why the State government is giving for a throwaway prices to their personal benefits, he questioned. He further said that only of 400 acres of the government land, only 80 acres is left.
