*YSR–Jagan’s record answers anti-Hindu campaign: Bhumana*

Tirupati, September 20: Former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy strongly countered Andhra Jyothi MD Vemuri Radhakrishna’s remarks in his Kotha Paluku column linking former Chief Ministers Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy with religious conversions, stating that their record of service to Hindu Dharma itself answers such charges.
Bhumana said attempts to politically weaken Jagan and damage his character had failed and religion was now being used as a weapon to portray him as anti-Hindu and create hostility between him and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said such writings distorted the historical record for political purposes.
He recalled that during YSR’s tenure, Sri Venkateswara Vedic University was established and Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC) was launched to propagate the glory of Lord Venkateswara and Hindu Dharma. SVBC was launched in July 2008.  He also cited programmes such as Kalyanamastu, Bhajan Mandalis, Dharma Rathams, Srinivasa Kalyanams, Dalita Govindam and religious conferences with Peethadhipathis and Mathadhipathis, besides measures to protect Tirumala’s sanctity.
During Jagan’s tenure, Bhumana said the Srivani Trust undertook construction and renovation of temples, with particular emphasis on SC, ST, BC, tribal and fishermen habitations. He also cited the launch of Sri Srinivasa Divyanugraha Visesha Homam at Alipiri for Lokakalyanam. TTD records confirm that the Homam commenced on November 23, 2023 under the aegis of SV Vedic University.
“From Vedic University to SVBC, from Kalyanamastu to Srivani temples, these are not mere words but a record of work,” Bhumana said, asserting that personal religious beliefs cannot be used to erase YSR and Jagan’s documented contributions to Hindu religious institutions.
